Varieties of hazmat labels

Since it would be impossible to include all of the information in an MSDSin a tiny sticker, different kinds of labels (that prioritize and display safety information in a variety of ways) are available. It’s important to select the right kind of label with the most relevant information for your worksite’s procedures, best preparing workers for safe chemical-handling. Here are a few examples of different labels you can purchase (and, in most cases, customize) to make sure your people know what challenges they're facing.

Self Laminating Label

MSDS labels like this one identify the chemical and tell workers what kinds of PPE (personal protective equipment) are needed around them. Its polyester shield ensures that this self-laminating label will stay legible through years of rough treatment and moisture.

MSDS Summary Label

This simple MSDS summary label provides workers with an NFPA diamond and basic information about the chemical and its manufacture.

ANSI Labels

ANSI labels give users far more detailed information on the substances they're attached to – but these labels aren't appropriate for all packages. They need large, relatively smooth areas to be legible.

GHS Labels

GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals) labels consist of simple pictograms that communicate the relevant danger in a universally understandable way, like this label warning of explosion risk.

NFPA Diamond Labels

This handy NFPA diamond includes a key to help users decode it.

MSDS Labels

This MSDS label lets workers know where the Data Sheet is located – and reassures those in transport that there is indeed a sheet there in the first place!
